Young South African star Dewald Brevis was in scintillating form during Match 23 of the ongoing IPL 2022 season against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday. The youngster hit 49 off 25 balls, which included four fours and five sixes, but his effort was not enough to guide MI to their first win of the season as Rohit Sharma’s team lost their fifth match in a row.
The 18-year-old however sent cricket fans into a slump as he smashed Rahul Chahar for four consecutive sixes in the ninth over of MI’s innings. Brevis scored the maximum runs in the last four balls of the ninth over.
It all started with a boundary straight down the ground on the second delivery of the over. Brevis then hit Chahar in the style of AB de Villiers for a straight six on the head, no wonder he has been called Baby AB by so many.

The next two were hit on the corner of the cow as Chahar compromised flight and speed as he was carried to the sweepers. The last six, which went 112 meters away, was hit at wide long-on and turned out to be the longest six of IPL 2022. Overall, Chahar conceded 29 runs in that over.

He was a star performer for South Africa in the recent Under-19 Cricket World Cup, scoring two centuries and three fifties. He scored 506 runs and was also adjudged the Player of the Tournament.
