Shikhar Dhawan returned to big-scoring form as he scored a crucial 70 runs in the top-order for Punjab Kings in IPL 2022. Dhawan was starting this season but this was the first time he managed to convert it. A big score and the result was a massive 198 for Punjab Kings against Mumbai Indians, which eventually proved to be enough for a win. Dhawan has scored huge runs against Mumbai Indians in the past and he worked again against Rohit Sharma’s team.

Speaking about Dhawan’s performance, former India opener Virender Sehwag heaped praise on the southpaw but said that he should have scored 10-15 runs more in the number of balls he had consumed.

“Shikhar is a brilliant player. Form can be fickle at times. He likes to score runs against his favorite team, which is Mumbai Indians. He scored against Mumbai when he was playing for Delhi Capitals.

“I think scoring 70 off 50 balls is a bit slow. Had he scored 85 off 50 balls, the score would have been around 215. That’s the only drawback, I think. Had he stayed till the end, he would have been a push. Deta scored ahead but he got out. Gabbar is Gabbar and teams should be afraid of him,” Sehwag said while talking about Dhawan’s innings on Cricbuzz.

Punjab Kings now have 6 points from 5 matches as it was their third win of the season and are currently at the 3rd position in the points table.

Mumbai Indians are at the bottom after losing their fifth match on the bounce.
