New Zealand will look to consolidate their position after finishing the first day at 258/5 on the second day of the first Test against Bangladesh at Mount Maunganui on Sunday. On the first day of the Test, batsman Devon Conway continued his phenomenal growth in Test cricket, scoring 122 runs. In only his fourth Test, and recovering from a broken arm, Conway lifted New Zealand one for one to close the day. Henry Nicholls made 258 for five for 32 and Tom Blundell was dismissed for 11 off the last ball. It was the fourth time in seven Test innings that Conway had crossed the 50 mark, and it raised his average to 71.57, but after setting up New Zealand for a big total, he took his wicket off Mominul Haque. Mominul held himself for only three overs before the second new ball and claimed a harmless delivery on Conway’s prized scalp, which was given to wicketkeeper Liton Das. (live scorecard)
