Former India pacer Ashish Nehra has heaped praise on Mohammad Siraj, saying the pacer has the potential and hunger to get even better in the years to come. Siraj, who made his Test debut during India’s tour of Australia 2020-21, has added to his shares with his performances with the Indian team in the longest format of the game. Speaking during a discussion on Cricbuzz, Nehra said that Siraj has been Test captain Virat Kohli’s “go-to man” in every situation.

Nehra said, “From the day he came into the national team, his hunger and eagerness to learn is clearly visible. If Virat Kohli wants someone to bowl long spells and hit bouncers, he is at the forefront of everything. ”

Explaining why Siraj has been preferred over senior fast bowlers like Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav, Nehra said: “He always keeps the pressure up (imposed by Bumrah and Shami). He never lets you down. ; He gives his best while running on the track.. He has made the most of his skills and will only get better from here on.”

With Virat Kohli ruled out of the second Test due to an upper back spasm, KL Rahul is leading the side against South Africa at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.

Rahul had said at the toss, ‘Unfortunately Virat has a cramp in his upper back. Physios are working on him and hopefully he will recover in time for the next Test.

India were bowled out for 202 in the first innings, with KL Rahul scoring a brilliant half-century. In reply, South Africa scored 35 for one with two unbeaten batsmen along with Dean Elgar and Keegan Pietersen at stumps on the first day.
