Kia Carens MPV bookings to start in India next week

The Kia Carens MPV will go on sale in India in the first quarter of 2022. Looks like the carmaker can’t wait for a few months to tell us more about its upcoming MPV. The South Korean automaker has announced trim details and technical specifications of the three-row vehicle ahead of its launch. This will be the brand’s fourth product in the Indian market after Seltos, Carnival and Sonet. In addition, the company will start accepting bookings for the three-row MPV from January 14, 2021.

The upcoming Kia Carens is a three-row vehicle that is based on the Seltos compact SUV.

Kia India will offer the Carence in 5 trim levels – Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The MPV will be available in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. The MPV uses Kia’s latest global design language with crown jewel LED headlamps and a signature tiger face with star map LED DRLs. It also gets new star map LED taillamps, 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome rear bumper with diamond knurling pattern and much more.

In terms of dimensions, the Kia Carense measures 4,540 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,708 mm in height. The wheelbase of this MPV is the longest in its class at 2,780 mm. Kia will offer the MPV in eight body colors – Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Glacier White Pearl, Clear White, Gravity Gray and Aurora Black Pearl.

The Kia Carens MPV gets a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with the brand’s latest-gen Kia Connect.

The upcoming Karen MPV will be a feature-loaded offering from Kia that will be equipped with many first-in-class features. It gets 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, 66 connected car features with next-gen Kia Connect, Bose sound system with 8 speakers, 64 color ambient lighting, smart pure air purifier with virus and bacteria protection, ventilated front Seats are included. Multi-drive modes, sunroof, paddle shifters, wireless charger with cooling function, first-row cooling cup holder and second-row can holder, retractable seat back table with cup holder and gadget mount, sliding-type under-seat tray, and many more. For safety, the MPV will get 6 airbags, ESC, VSM, HAC, DBC, ABS, BAS, all-wheel disc brakes, Highline TPMS, rear parking sensors as standard across all trims.

Under the hood, the Kia Carense will come with two petrol and one diesel engine option, borrowed from the Seltos compact SUV. This includes a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine, 1.4-litre turbo petrol motor and a 1.5-litre diesel mill. The 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine makes 113 bhp along with 144 Nm of torque, while the 1.4-litre T-GDI turbo petrol engine makes 138 bhp along with 242 Nm of peak torque. The oil burner, on the other hand, produces 113 Bhp and 250 Nm. Transmission duties are performed by a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard with an optional automatic 7-speed DCT (1.4-litre T-GDI petrol) and a 6-speed torque converter (1.5-litre VGT diesel).
