Mumbai: Civic officials of Mumbai said that Cordelia cruise ship arrived in Mumbai from Goa this evening with 66 COVID patients.

The cruise liner anchored at a passenger terminal at Ballard Pier in south Mumbai at around 6.30 pm and a team of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and police personnel has reached the spot, he said.

Officials said the BMC has arranged for five ambulances, each 17-seater, to take the patients to the Covid care centre.

He added that patients also have the option of isolating themselves in hotels at their own expense.

Earlier, the civic body had said that all positive people on board the cruise ship will be quarantined in Mumbai, while others will have to undergo RT-PCR tests before disembarking.

Passengers will be allowed to disembark only after the test report comes negative. However, they will have to self-isolate at home for a week, the BMC said.

The onboard RT-PCR test will be done by two laboratories and their reports are expected by 9 am tomorrow.

Officials said 66 of the more than 2,000 people on board have tested positive for coronavirus.
