Known for his witty posts on social media, Wasim Jaffer reached Ku to pay tribute to Shardul Thakur through a light-hearted video. The Indian pacer took his maiden five-wicket haul on the second day of the ongoing second Test against South Africa. The 30-year-old dismissed skipper Dean Elgar (28), Keegan Pietersen (62), Rassi van der Dussen (1), Temba Bavuma (51) and Kyle Verne (22). In the video posted by Jaffer, a batsman can be seen jokingly misses a delivery and the former cricketer compared it to Shardul’s brilliant spell. The video has also been captioned as, “SA batsmen faced Lord Shardul, today Shardul bowled well”.

The visiting team was bowled out for 202 on the first day. In the absence of Virat Kohli, India only had a batting collapse with notable innings from KL Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Opener Rahul scored 50 off 133 balls and Ashwin scored 46 runs in 50 balls.
Marco Jensen was in fine form for the hosts with four wickets.
In reply, South Africa scored 229 runs in their first innings lead by 27 runs.
Keegan Pietersen’s 62-run knock proved crucial for the Proteas and even Temba Bavuma scored a half-century.
After taking his five-wicket haul, Thakur took two more wickets and finished with figures of 7/61.
The visitors will be aiming to cut the deficit and get off to a good start in their second innings.
