PM Modi virtually inaugurated 11 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said Tamil Nadu will get an assistance of over Rs 3,000 crore over the next five years for the development of health infrastructure.

“PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission aims to bridge the critical gap in health infrastructure and health research, especially at the district level. Over Rs 3,000 crore will be provided to Tamil Nadu over the next five years. The help will come from urban health and wellness centres, district public health laboratories and critical care blocks across the state. It will be of immense benefit to the people of Tamil Nadu,” the prime minister said.

PM Modi on Wednesday inaugurated 11 medical colleges in Tamil Nadu and the new campus of the Central Institute of Classical Tamil in Chennai.

These medical colleges have been inaugurated in Virudhunagar, Namakkal, Nilgiris, Tiruppur, Tiruvallur, Nagapattinam, Dindigul, Kallakurichi, Ariyalur, Ramanathapuram and Krishnagiri districts.

In his virtual address, the Prime Minister said, “This will be the first time that 11 medical colleges located in a single state are being inaugurated in a single stroke.”

In October last year, the Prime Minister inaugurated nine medical colleges in the districts of Siddharthnagar, Etah, Hardoi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Deoria, Ghazipur, Mirzapur and Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh.

The Prime Minister said, “I am breaking my own record.”
