PM Modi, President extend best wishes on Army Day

Army Day 2022: PM Modi said that India is proud of the glorious role of its army during the humanitarian crisis.

New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted soldiers on the occasion of Army Day today. Praising the exemplary courage and professionalism of the bravehearts, PM Modi said that “words cannot do justice” for their invaluable contribution to the nation’s security.

PM Modi said that India is proud of the outstanding role of its military during humanitarian crises, natural calamities and peacekeeping operations abroad. He also expressed gratitude towards the families of these soldiers and veterans.

Along with images of soldiers training in hostile terrain like snow-capped mountains and hot and humid desert, PM Modi wrote, “Greetings on the occasion of Army Day, especially to our courageous soldiers, respected veterans and their families. Indian Army Known for his bravery and professionalism. Words cannot do justice to the invaluable contribution of the Indian Army towards national security.”

He said, “Indian Army personnel serve in hostile areas and are at the forefront of helping fellow civilians during humanitarian crises including natural calamities. India is proud of the Army’s outstanding contribution to peacekeeping operations abroad as well.”

President Ram Nath Kovind said that the Indian Army has played an important role in ensuring national security. “Our soldiers have displayed professionalism, sacrifice and valor in guarding the borders and maintaining peace. The nation is grateful for your service. Jai Hind,” he wrote in a tweet.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that the country is proud of the Army, which has distinguished itself as a courageous and professional force committed to the defense of the country.

Home Minister Amit Shah saluted the valor, courage and sacrifice of the soldiers. “Every Indian is proud of your selfless service, dedication and commitment to the nation,” Shah wrote in a tweet in Hindi.

Several other Union ministers including Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal have also congratulated the army.

Army Day is celebrated on 15 January. It was on this day in 1949 that General (later Field Marshal) KM Cariappa was appointed as the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army.
