Virat Kohli quits as India’s Test captain

Virat Kohli stepped down as India’s Test captain on Saturday. Kohli issued a statement on social media to make the announcement. The decision comes a day after India’s 1-2 loss to South Africa in the three-match Test series. “It has been 7 years of hard work, hard work and tireless work everyday to take the team in the right direction. I have worked with utmost sincerity and left nothing there. Everything has to be done at some level or the other. But for me as India’s Test captain, it is now,” Kohli said.

He said, “I would like to thank BCCI for giving me the opportunity to lead our country for so long and more importantly, all those teammates who dreamed of the team from day one and for any Never gave up in any situation.” added further.

Notably, Kohli was replaced as India’s full-time white-ball captain by Rohit Sharma in December last year.
