National Archives admits it found classified documents


The National Archives acknowledged Friday that it has discussed with the Justice Department what to do in classified record boxes at Mar-a-Lago after former President Donald Trump left office, according to a letter from Archivist David Ferreiro’s House Oversight Committee. were found.

The letter released by the Archives on Friday provided more details on reports that Trump had torn the record after being warned while he was president.

The archives arranged for the transportation of about 15 boxes of records from Trump’s Florida resort last month after the agency sought from the former president’s team.

“The slogan has identified items marked as classified national security information within the boxes,” Ferriero wrote, answering a question from the House. “Since NARA has identified the classified information in the boxes, NARA employees are in communication with the Department of Justice.”

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
