The BCCI has given senior batsman Virat Kohli a 10-day break from the bio bubble of the Indian team ahead of the third T20 International against West Indies in Kolkata on Sunday. As reported by PTI on Friday, Kohli will miss the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka starting in Lucknow from February 24, followed by two more matches in Dharamsala on February 26 and 27.
“Yes, Kohli left home on Saturday morning as India has already won the series. As decided by the BCCI, it will be a policy to give periodic breaks to all regular all format players from the bubble to ensure to ensure their workload management. And mental health is taken care of,” a senior BCCI official for the development told PTI on condition of anonymity.
The Indian team for the Sri Lanka series will be selected later.
